Obituary for Elsie Fajardo Rodriguez

Elsie Fajardo  Rodriguez
Elsie F. Rodriguez, 93, passed January 12th, 2023, peacefully at home (Las Cruces, NM). Elsie was born January 1st, 1930, in Rodey, New Mexico to Daniel and Urbana Fajardo.

Elsie was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. She graduated from Las Cruces Union High School in 1948. She worked at Walgreens drugstore and The White House Dept. store until she married Albino Rodriguez. Elsie also worked at Whites Auto Store, First National Bank, S & H Green Stamps store. Ultimately, she retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools. She was an accomplished seamstress, and active in the community volunteering for the March of Dimes Foundation for many years. She loved spending time with family in Ruidoso, NM at her cabin. She was an avid reader, was big on cards / board games, and loved to watch NFL football.

Elsie is preceded in death by her husband Albino Rodriguez, her parents Daniel and Urbana Fajardo, two brothers Henry Fajardo, Elfego Fajardo, three sisters Emma Carrillo, Esther Velarde, Flora Garcia. Elsie is survived by her sister Helen Lara, her children Roy Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez (W - Rosa), Elizabeth Baca (H - Bryan Sr.), and John Paul Rodriguez (W - Leticia). Grandchildren: Rosina Nuanes, Daniel Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Roman Rodriguez, and Bryan Baca Jr. Great grandchildren: Daniel Maeceo Rodriguez, Zipporah Contreras, Ezekiel Rodriguez, Rowan Rodriguez, Brinley Rodriguez, and Jaxen Rodriguez. In addition, 3 great- great grandchildren.

Rosary services will be held on Wednesday January 25th at Getz Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. with viewing at 6:00 p.m. Mass services will be held on Thursday January 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Subsequently, burial services will be held at Hillcrest cemetery. There will be a reception held at Findley Hall at Immaculate Heart of Mary following the burial.

Pallbearers: Daniel Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez, Roman Rodriguez, Bryan Baca Jr, Daniel Maeceo Rodriguez, Ezekiel Rodriguez, and Rowan Rodriguez.

The Rodriguez family would like to express our thanks to the wonderful help and care provided by Tendercare Hospice. We would like to also recognize her wonderful caregivers throughout the years: Lupita, Belma, Barbara, Carmen, Yary, and Cristina.
