Elva E.  Ingraham
AUGUSTA, MAINE
Elva E. Ingraham - age 94, formerly of Davenport Street, died June 27, 2015 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch Drive after an extended illness. She was born in Waterville, Maine on August 4, 1920 the daughter of Owen B. Ingraham and Eloda (Nason) Ingraham.
Elva graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1939, and from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
She served with the Army Nurse Corps in World War II and Korean Conflict. Elva was employed by the Veterans Administration Center at Togus for many years, retiring in 1975 as a nursing supervisor.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Augusta; served on the church Board of Trustees for many years. She was also a member of the church Parish Council, Murray Alliance and the Winchester/Robinson Clubs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post #90, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Friends of Fort Western, Kennebec Valley Medical Center Auxiliary, Koussinoc Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and Kennebec Chapter Col. Dames XVII Century.
Elva was predeceased by her parents, a brother, William Ingraham, and a sister, Patricia Hoylman.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no planned visiting hours. A committal service with military honors will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, July 14th in the chapel at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, ME. In honor of Elva's service to her country and many years caring for veterans and their families at Togus V.A., the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Memorial Program, P O Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME.
