Mary E. "Betty"  Urso (Shea)
Mary E. ”Betty” (Shea) Urso, beloved wife of Natale A. Urso, of Old Juniper Lane, Westerly, passed away the morning of April 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89.

She was born in Pawcatuck, CT the daughter of the late Sebastian and Marguerite Shea.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A devoted homemaker with six children, Betty gave time and energy to many organizations, such as “Problem Pregnancy” and her prayer group. She led a full and giving life that touched all with her spirit of joy and hospitality. It was always Betty’s desire that her children keep family at the center of their lives. Everyone who met Betty will remember her as a heartwarming individual that could always bring a smile to their face. Betty Urso’s wisdom, love and character are a testimony of how God has blessed the Urso family.

She is survived by four sons, David and Danny Urso of Westerly, Dennis Urso of Ellicott, MD and Nate Urso of Providence; two daughters Kathy Lyford of North Scituate and Lori Kennedy of Smyrna, GA; one brother Charles Shea of Pawcatuck and one sister Marga Higgins also of Pawcatuck; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 8 at St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm St., Westerly at 10am. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Alzheimer’s Association of Rhode Island, 245 Waterman St.,#306, Providence, RI 02906 in Betty’s memory.
