Kenneth Eugene  Schaaf Sr.
On November 10th Kenneth Schaaf 85 passed away in his home following a long illness. He was born June 13, 1936 in Cortez Colorado, moving to Albuquerque as a young child. He moved to Truth or Consequences graduating from Hot Springs High School. Ken joined the Navy and received training in aviation electronics. Upon discharge from the Navy he met and married the love of his life Martha, they moved to Las Cruces where he worked at Ikard’s repairing TVs. He then worked in the calibration lab at the Johnson Space Center for the next 45 years. During his time at the “Nasa site” he was the supervisor of the calibration lab designing radio systems for the space and other government agencies receiving many awards and citations for his work. He was known as the radio guru. Ken was a member of the National Management Association and becoming the national president. He received the prestigious Silver Knight Award from the NMA for his outstanding work He had a passion for fishing, hunting, camping and his dogs and cats. Ken is preceded in death by his mother Nelly, Father Alva, brother Jesse and wife Maribel, Nephew Alan, brother Leroy and wife Edna, and grandson Stephen. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Martha, Son Kenny, daughter-in-law Sharon, granddaughter Alaina, grandson Nicholas, and great granddaughter Hanna Luna and numerous friends.
Visitation will be at Getz Funeral Home on December 1 from 4:30-5:30 pm. Funeral Services and military honors will be December 2 at St Paul’s United Methodist Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
